Primal Hunter - Chapter 60

Ok I was expecting this to be way off, but I wasn't expecting HOW way off it'd be. Holy heck they really messed this up. The fight, the ACTUAL fight, was epic. Go read chapter 107-110 of the novel, I'm begging you. 

The black bead, the tusk and the moonshard he got from defeating the beast lords are very important in this fight. The manhwa skipped over the last beast lord fight, where he got the tusk, so there's no tusk in the manhwa. Also, after the stag beast lord fight, what Jake gets is the corrupted moonshard (corrupted due to the poison he used during that fight). The energies inside is barely balanced, if you mess with it at al it will go BOOM. This is important. 

The king does not take this fight seriously, he's basically just toying with Jake. You find out later that he's actually not even planning on killing Jake. See, once the tutorial ends the king was going to be placed in the new universe, and he figured Jake would make a good slave. Jake doesn't know any of this, the king only thinks about it, so we the readers know. 

Nothing Jake does works against the king in the first part of the fight. After getting himself beat up and tossed around at the beginning of the fight, Jake comes up with a plan. He pretends to be desperate, terrified and panicking. He makes pathetic attacks using whatever basic weapons he can find in his storage, basically throwing a bunch of weapons at the king. Until one of the things thrown at him is the black bead. It does some good damage to the king.

While the king is distracted, Jake takes the tusk and tries stabbing the king in the heart with it, he fails but manages to stab it into his stomach. The fight carries on, the king is furious, he's taking Jake very seriously now, and he's attacking in every way he can, huge attacks that flatten part of the forest. Jake dodges all over the place and works on the next part of his plan. He eventually manages to get the corrupted moonshard in the hole in the king's stomach, and detonates it using his poison. The result of that little stone exploding is DEVASTATING.

The king is severely damaged, Jake is severely damaged. Jake is actually missing an eye at this point and most of his organs and bones are destroyed. He's actually had the skill "limit breaker" activated this whole time, it does NOT do what they show here, well not at it's standard 20%. Anyway, limit breaker being active is the only reason Jake is still standing. They fight a bit more, Jake slowly does more and more damage to the king. The king slowly comes to the realisation of WHY he is being beaten by a mortal, he has this whole long inner monologue about it all. Anyway, the king decides that he has no choice but to use his actual power, soul magic.

Jake is hit by the magic, starts recovering from it, gets hit with another blast of it and he starts to fall. He feels himself fading and the novel describes the next moment like this: "And as his mind faded, that which lay beneath came forth. A cold, unfeeling thing that held no thoughts, no considerations. Only instincts. Jake was unconscious but his body was very much awake. A part of that which was 'Jake' dwelled deep within. And that part had now taken over as he stopped his fall and attacked the King of the Forest. He didn’t need to think about it; he just knew that the King was an enemy. And enemies had to be killed."

The last part of the fight is just Jake's instinct pushing "limit break" to the absolute limit, his body is breaking down from the force of it. The king gets weaker and weaker, all his attacks are useless against Jake's speed and ferocity. Jake is like a feral beast at this point. When he can no longer use his hands, he bites, when his teeth are all gone, he bashes his head into the king.
Finally, neither can move anymore, and both are fading into true death, but the king fades out first, and thus Jake wins the tutorial. The system heals him and returns him to the waiting room
