"I knew from the star that Shin could get hurt" What got me was that Jake called him "Shin" in his thoughts, BC out loud? He always ALWAYS calls him shingun, full name (sometimes surname included and first) and he did it on PURPOSE. BC we know that shin tells everyone to call him just shin for a reason, and it was a great bit of characterization for a korean-american character, but!!! He had a person in his life that called him hyung, he taught him that term, so there is a bit of yearning to have that part of himself loved and openly so. Jake, in theory, doesn't know that, but I swear to god he is the ONLY one that always calls him his full name, never nickname. And now that gren is dead... Yeah. Usually nicknames denote a deeper attachment or a special bond, this is the opposite and I always liked that. So I went !!! to see that in his mind Jake called him just "shin", I'm curious to see if this actually is something or not.
