author: 1 me: 0 i just realized something, in the previous chapter i tried to stay focused and objective , i said that in their relationship they both commited bad things but that sungho did more things. but in my heart i wasn't convinced, i feel worse for sungho, and kinda hate mc but i just understood why. from their highschool days , we saw dohyun living a careless life, indulging in whatever pleasure came to him, (p0** , smok!ng, s3x, skiping class, games, etc) while we saw sungho suffer from their increasingly crushing one-sided relationship. sungho was (and is, these things never go away) a victim of ra**, and manipulation, he knew he was just a toy to dohyun but he couldn't bear to be the one to break their relationship, dohyun always made sure to word it in a way to shift all the responsability onto him, "if you don't want to, we can just stop" but stoping here means to completly stop engaging with the other. but that's the thing, we have mostly seen how sungho was hurt in his younger days, how much dohyun enjoyed it, how much he suffered in this kidnapping,, and how much at his core, dohyun is a selfish bastrd who cares for only himself, he has never, since chapter one, showed interest or affection for anyone, he's not relatable, he's an ah***, but the author showed us why he is this way. 'it was in ch 4 , where we got a bit of a glimpse at his famil situation, basically he was abandoned by his mother and his father, he was neglected by his aunt and uncle because of their work, and teachers didn't help him get is sh** together. so wether it is justified or not, i think his selfishness is just a defense mechanism, he's been repeatedly abandoned by his family so he's the only one who can care for himself, also to care for someone is to give them a place in your heart, and by doing that he'd be risking being hurt again. sorry i got lost in my comment, what i meant to say is that a lot of dohyun's suffering is implied and thus easily forgotten by the readers, a lot of coments were blaming dohyun for doing all those desicable things to a child, but they're forgetting a crucial part here, they were in the same class, he was a child too, there is a reason why minors don't normally go to jail for things adults would, because they are young and don't fully grasp what they do or why they do it, nor the full impact it can have on others.
