Read manhwa How to Hide the Emperor's Child / "You never loved me anyway, right?"Astelle's long-awaited marriage life ended in a day.She worked hard to become Kaizen's wife since she was ten, but the only thing that was left for her was the stigma of an empress. She was abandoned by the royalty; the man she loved, Kaizen, wanted her to leave."Yes. You're right. I didn't love you."Astelle lied for the last time. The man was the reason for her life, but it was also for the sake of the man who was her husband for a day.She thought there would be no contact with him again, but-"I think I might be pregnant?"***Six years later, Astelle, who reunited with Kaizen, lied again."You who is that child?""He's my nephew."To protect the child.

The story is good, entertaining and Astelle (the FL) is smart and isn't a pushover. I like her character growth and the story does show a lot of promise. The art is amazing and consistent too.

My main gripe however is Kaizen (The ML). He's more of a villain than a ML. I utterly despise him.

To start: he betrayed Astelle just hours after their first night of marriage (And them doing the deed), essentially breaking both her heart and trust. Convicted her and divorced her even though she did nothing wrong.

Then poor Astelle had nowhere to go and chose to live in solitude with her grandfather because her own father disowned her after Kaizen divorced her. She also finds out she's pregnant with her and her ex-husband's child.

Then 6 or 7 years later, she's living a content life as a villager but suddenly she's being hunted by knights sent by Kaizen because of some documents. He takes her and her son (Whom she disguises as her nephew) against their will.

He keeps them at the palace, again against Astelle's will who just wants to go back to the life she's built over the past 7 years with her son.

Kaizen also constantly ignores Astelle's authority over the child as he tells the boy grandiose stories and promises to take the boy outside against his mother's wishes. Even takes the child out to hunt bears without consulting Astelle causing FL to panic.

Anyway, he does have some redeeming qualities but they're outshined by his shi*** behaviour. I just wish anyone else was the ML over him.

Anyway, awful ML aside, the side characters are wonderful. I love the support the FL gets from her grandfather and her maid and the relationship between her and her son is very wholesome. And It's funny seeing how she handles things thrown at her from both her toxic ex-husband and her father. A very smart and capable FL all in all.

Overall: Story is about 3 stars because it's really dragged down by the ML. Read it for wholesome mother-and-son interactions, and for how smart Astelle is.

It's nice to see a strong FL but the lack of communication and slow development is taxing to read

It was very good at the beginning. But gradually lost its momentum. Fl's character becomes weak. Yeah, at least ML redeemed himself i guess.

I really like the art...the story is more interesting in the first part, but I found the last chapters (from 70 to 80th) a little bit boring and the story very slow

Firstly the art style is phenomenal then ml earlier he used to be cr** bt after years he realised his mistake though can't overlook what he did to FL bt he was caring and concerned towards the child. FL is really a 😍 beauty.. overall plot is nice and twist n turns make the story amazing....

G**, I hate children. It's my personal conviction that Nature made them as insufferable as they are just to encourage humanity to extinguish itself. Do you want to continue to infest the planet with the spawn of your leaky appendages? Sure, but the price is tying your göddamn life to a screaming, ever-sh****** gremlin. Not so fun now, innit? Serves us right.

But I like both the children that star in this manga. They are cute. Both Theor... and Kaizen. SEE WHAT I DID HERE? BOI, AM I FUNNY! AND QUIRKY! Oh come on: ML has his reasons, believe me, I know. He is still a conniving cünt tho. Like, tell her WHY you are doing what you are doing. She can act along. She is a smart cookie. But noooo, we gotta be dramatic pieces of sh** about it because you don't trust her. Classy, Kaizen. You reap what you sow and your angst sustains me.

Still, apart from this itty bitty detail, excellent characterization. A story about a couple's estrangement and a FL's tenacious avoidance, most notably, that MAKES SENSE. Ironclad. I know why everything is fuc***, so I can very rationally cry my a** off while FL goes literally crazy trying to save her son from political assassination and the g****** dumbfucks around unknowingly impede her. The tension and the drama between the characters are kept on a stable high all around.

Add to this very high stakes plot an incredible pacing, great writing (when well translated) and a positively SHINING art department, so brilliant and sparkly my sight got actually worse, and you get a fantastic example of the "running away with child" trope, which is usually very satisfying anyway. Again, I must stress: especially the art, if you ignore the sometimes droopy eyes, is truly appealing, costumes too.

Reccomended, with a GAI (Grand Accolade of Ivern).
