Summary

Once upon a time, a village was burned to the ground without a trace in a war that took place on the western outskirts of the Ming Dynasty (today's China). In the burnt field, where no one was expected to survive, a boy lived. His name was Kaiji. He was wandering around with his tiger Bagi when he was picked up by a man named Garyuusai, and together, they traveled to Japan. Over the next few years, with no memory of his time in Ming China, Kaiji was taught the skills of an assassin by Garyuusai and became a member of the Shadow Dragons. However, as he repeats this assassination business, Kaiji gradually begins to have doubts about his days of killing, and suddenly a fragment of his lost past memory comes back to him!
