After reading some manhwas, it seems to me that Koreans have a different notion of respect for authority, because I think that if you throw something at a superior, punishments are applied as an example. So we see a weak character, weak because his motivations are empty, but that the author wants to turn into a villain or perhaps achieve some redemption.

So this character Lucas is quite mediocre, but the author makes a point of keeping him alive, not bringing the revenge that the protagonist promised, possibly making the plot weak.
