I'm a person that values platonic and familial relationship over anything, so seeing Karel treat Julian like this deeply upsets me. Especially because Julian truly cares for him as a brother and a friend.

Karel's attitude towards Julian is undeserving. That man takes himself as your brother, even went out of his way using his time and resources to get you the one persion you're inlove with; even though he believes it's just infatuation.
Julian is a true friend and that itself is rare.
