@Allen Osborn How is this filler when we're finally getting Kai's backstory, how he became the number one assassin, and the reasons he wants to kill his family? That is pivotal to the story. Think if Naruto or One Piece never gave their main characters any flashbacks. You wouldn't be as emotionally enveloped in them.

@Nyja I get your point, but almost no MC from any series is ever seen wearing different clothes. Naruto, Goku, Tanjiro, Toriko, etc. There are exceptions like Luffy who wears a new vest sometimes, but the majority always wear the same clothes.

@aasegovia88 Midou also has unreal expectations in thinking nobody on his side would ever get hurt or die. Also, MC never betrayed them like Midou is implying by saying he can't trust MC. That was the best possible plan. Their friend died and it is tragic, but that's no reason not to trust the MC.

@Knight Moon I think it's less that one of them died and how the MC responded to the death by saying, "This is an acceptable outcome" or something like that. Yeah, Midou should have known the others could die, but Shinjo is too cold and just using them as pawns basically. I see both points and there isn't really a right choice between the two.

@Minh I have to agree with you. This was a war. They were fine killing demons just because they were a different race? Those demons had loved ones and friends too. They killed two major demons and several high ranking ones while only losing one person. That is more than a satisfactory result.
