More than not liking the art, most people dropped it because of the alpha boi's attitude towards dobin in the beginning. I mean the author's other work, Heesu in class 2 was a massive hit. She had a similar artstyle back then also. And complaining about a top's behaviour is not well recieved in the yaoi community usually so maybe they were using the 'weird lips' as an excuse.
