@uhohlixie   they are called hemipenises lol They have them for multiple reasons, one being reproduction succession. Its allows snakes to mate with multiple females quickly without depleting their sperm supply. Two it allows flexibly in mating (also for sexual cannibalism were the female eats the male after mating) three, the two dih is believed to be evolved leg buds from early reptiles (when snakes lost their legs the legs became penises??? I think?) Four, the hemipenises have sensory receptors that give the male feedback during mating so he can adjust his behavior for optimal fertilization.
