psychological horror doesnt mean "excuse the monster." the point is to disturb us, not to hand him a moral hall pass. trauma explains behavior, but accountability is what separates a victim from a perpetrator. sangwoo is both, but being one doesnt cancel out being the other. being a monster with a tragic past is still being a monster.

@miyokun , actually, no. see, youre blurring the line. trauma shapes someone, yes, but it does NOT erase choice. plenty of people experience the exact same horrors you described—r/pe, abuse, neglect— and they dont become serial killers who torture and murder.

what youre describing is context, not absolution. his upbringing explains why his worldview is warped, but it doesnt jsut magically wipe away the fact he decided to kill, manipulate, and torture. if trauma alone made people murderers, the world would be flooded with serial killers, and we both know thats not reality.

and about his "childlike mind," being immature or emotionally stunted isnt the same thing as being incapable of moral judgment. adults with trauma can still know right from wrong. and sangwoo does show awareness of his actions like you admitted, he regrets things internally sometimes, meaning he KNOWS. you cant have regret without responsibility.

gosh, its been a long time since i used mangabuddy, i almost forgot how this works, but i agree!! his backstory was tragic. i feel bad for what happened to him in the past, but it doesnt excuse what he did as an adult. sympathy ≠ justification. :(((pepe-2 sticker

@Keesh , honey, trauma explains, it doesnt excuse. sangwoos dad didnt make him torture people, he chose that. dont mix up cause with justification. by your logic, you make it sound like every abused kid should become a serial killer. thats literally an insult to actual survivors.

also, ptsd ≠ serial murder. dont drag real mental illness into your sangwoo fanfiction defense. anyone can be traumatized and a monster, so stop acting like trauma erases accountability.
