Ml had trauma concerning male guides and found out that the lady he'd been in love with for two years is actually what caused his trauma. Mc just imprints on him without ml's consent out of shock and even though mc's death would have broken the bond he just decides to distance himself to find a better way. The only reason why we know mc likes ml is because he says so, nothing else shows we the readers this. When it comes to actions, ml has gone above and beyond to get over his trauma and prove that he truly values mc whiles mc avoids him any chance he gets. Mc is an unreliable narrator, and to be honest ml has really gone through a lot for him.
