Tom refers to a fae in disguise I believe. Possibly Puck? I know for sure Puck goes by the na e Robin or Rob, but there was something in fae lore about a Tom, just can't find it...
My cat Marmalade recently had a horrible medical issue. In the end it cost me 27k, but he is worth it. Some might say I'm insane spending that much on an animal, but he helped me through my Mom's passing, kept me moving when the depression was overwhelming, and basically kept me alive in one of my darkest times. If he could keep me alive during that dark time, I could certainly do the same for him.
I had this moment with a cat of mine. She had a genetic heart disease that cats can get that throws blood clots. The clots can either stop the heart or, as in her case, get stuck in the spinal area and cause paralisys and pain. When that happens the vet only has 2 choices, put the cat to sleep, or try to operate. If they operate the quality of life is extremely low and they only have maybe another year or so to live. She was already in severe pain and if she did the operation she would still be paralized and in daily pain. I had to let her cross the rainbow bridge to meet her brother who had the same thing happen 4 months earlier. Both times I talked about all options and unfortunately life after surgery would have basically been torture for them both. It is a hard stuggle for pet and owner alike.
They really broke Light when they tried to kill him. Though I don't blame him for breaking. At 12 years old the people he was thinking of as friends and family suddenly turned on him and tried to kill him. Not only that but he was teleported to "certian death". That mental trapeze act you have broken adults let alone a 12 year old child.
