I also kinda experience the same thing. My father runs hot and cold, sometimes he's the best father and sometimes he's the worst. He's an alcoholic and he verbally abuse me, my mother and my brother. He would never listen to my opinion or would never spend any time with me, he spends all of his time with his friends. He gets angry really easily for no reason. But I know deep down that he cares for me, he would go to any lengths for my sake (maybe I'm just delusional). I've seen him spend more money on my education and healthcare than he earns(there was a time when my family became financially poor).
This is why my feelings towards him are complicated. I'm confused whether to hate him or love him because of his hot and cold behaviour (even tho ik I love him since he's my father). This confusion makes me go insane. Thank you for listening🫶
