But I think they did mention something like that in an earlier chapter on why the tower appeared on Earth, and explains a bit on the other denizens in the tower too.

@JECU yeah your right, it's just to me when I think of nidhogg I think of it as a serpent/worm dragon like creature, and Loki dragon form made me think of Fafnir and the fact I didn't fully know the lore behind nidhogg, except it eats at the the roots of the world tree.

Not going to lie, but after looking up the novel, this is the second work that I am reading that was adapted from a western novel. The first one being Chronicles of Narnia: The Magicians Nephew.
