He actually uses the pregnancy to control Leyla, threatening that if she tries to leave or dies, he will mistreat the child, rather than demanding she die after birth. This was because of his toxic obsession with holding onto her because he cannot bear her belonging to someone else, not merely for a child. He wanted her to abort the baby because he thought that was the right thing to do since her life was in danger. This made her think he didn't love the child but the real problem was because he was obsessed with her and couldn't bare to lose her because of the child.

If you will remember the uke was lying there on the couch when the news about an accident was being told on the TV.
