All of the good stuff without too much of the typical over-the-top political scheming and intrigue (just the right amount to keep things interesting)
If you're looking for half-bit villains and another typical "let your enemies live to f you and your family up another day" MC, then this one is for you! Absolutely zero remorse from the MC for endangering the lives of his "companions" multiple times over. Enemies (i.e. his family) with the most pathetic motives somehow hate the guy to his core, but honestly I almost can't blame them
Infinite Mage
Sucks big time
5/5 read until about chapter 20 or so, after that it's read at your own risk (the risks being: high blood pressure, uncontrollable agression, homicid@l tendencies towards the author)
Spoiler!
MC is a war-hardened veteran who doesn't dare to take the life of the perpetrators who endangered his daughter's life. It's all painted as a revenge story but in actual fact it's an endless loop of:
1 "Where is my daughter"
2 "I swear if she's not alive.."
3 Fistfight when people actually have guns
4 Get interrupted because you're taking too long
5 Move to next location
6 repeat
A must-read for masochists who love to empathise with an MC who will unfailingly draw the short end of the stick for no apparent reason. Dropped 30 chapters in after no significant progress was made in terms of character development as it was basically just the MC jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire every time.
Slower pacing, but it fits with how the protagonist is doing all this just to avoid certain death
