@Mnemos Logos Unfortunately, same-s*x relationships are still very frowned upon in asian countries (and even western countries, but it's much worse over there).
Executing people for being sodomites wasn't uncommon in the middle ages either, so it's not like there isn't any basis for it.

@dabudee it is, it's one way for ornamental swords to work. Just the scabbard and pommel but no blade so it looks pretty but isn't dangerous

For reference, by the time of the French revolution, one gold coin (or Louis d'or) was worth 24 french pounds (and later 20 francs). A yearly salary (we're talking minimum wage) would be around 300-400 francs a year, or 15-20 gold coins a year.
France entire budget of the time was in the hundred of millions of french pounds (so in the tens of millions of gold coins), and that's the budget for the entire country.
300 billion gold coins would be well over 3000 years of France's annual budget, all just to make a single theater plus stage a play. That is ridiculously expensive.
And I know this world's gold coins are not gonna be identical in value and purchasing power to Revolutionary France gold coins, but it's still such a huge disparity it just becomes hilariously out of touch.

@Olean Ruzz What's likely is that Ricardor always loved her but her grandpa didn't want anything to do with her. It seems clear that the servants got peanut bread knowing that she had an allergy to peanuts, so they were likely dismissed by Ricardor to protect her. For the same reason Ricardor probably tries to stop her from going into the main mansion to protect her too, possibly from said grandpa that doesn't want to see her.

The father is an asshole, but sealing his emotions is honestly pretty similar to someone falling into depression because of his heartbreak and the world turning grey.
But just because your world lost all colors and you're left with cold facts and logics to avoid falling into despair doesn't mean you have to become a dick about it.

@JPANIME to be fair, it is likely based on a very historical practice (in the kingdom of France notably, although I don't doubt other countries might have done it at some point). The reasons are exactly as explained here.

@Eustass90 Law There's an important difference though : while Metatron is certainly an arrogant a**e that has staken his claim on her, he does respect her agency, proof being how he's not trying to isolate her like the prince tried to. He's absolutely pissed about Ikarus being into her and her into him, but we've not seen a hint of toxic behavior regarding that bit, contrary to the Prince who is toxic as h*l

I see so many comments telling how "romantic" his actions were but all I see is an obsessive ML that will be a danger if she gets involved with him, to her or to himself.
Like there's no doubt in my mind that guy would kill himself without hesitation if she rejected him and that is terrifying.
