The book goes into more detail. Just remember that sometimes the artists are good to start wrapping things up within so many chapters. So a lot of action has been cut.

Yup. The alpha made an appearance in the side story early, Mr. Pittman, but it's Josh's sister's boss's story. At the end, we see all the kids and adults interacting and stuff.
