3. The past ML is a ghost and the current ML is a new entity with his own mind and memory, making him as his own person. The ghost Muni tried to completely control the ghost ML but couldn't. If you remember, in one chapter Muni ghost talked to the ML ghost and made him posses the current ML's body, while Muni ghost itself possessed the current physical body that he had, to fulfill his unfulfilled desires and obsessions of the past.
This is what I think from as far as I can remember. 
I think the current ML knows that he gets possessed¿ It then explains a few gaps, like how sometimes the past ML is in control and sometimes the present ML is in control of the ML body, this explains the behaviour in the latest chapter where MC was getting r*ped by the ML ghost of the past, and then when he also saw the boss / corrent ML soul as a third person. Both the ML souls compete to take control of the ML body.

Oh I see, that's how it is then. 
I was thinking of putting this manhwa on hold until it's completed. Reading it parts confuses my brain.

In the latest chapter the ghost that our MC made the promise with was revealed a bit, and I think that it has the silhouette of the past life Muni. Maybe that ghost really is the original memory or core memory of Muni.
