I did read the novel. So the Manga is a little different from the novel. 
1st : shao didn't adopt a stranger baby. Instead, when xen Li was at the hospital he did make him take some test and secretly he secretly he did take some his sperms and he hired a surrogate. So the baby is biologicaly xen li's. (so basically he forced him to be with him if he want to be in his child life)              
2nd : the fight that happened with shao and the other ML. it was shao how stabbed him self not the other way. He did that to has xen Li focus on him. When xen Li discovered that he was furious and he will realise that he really can't escape shao, because shao everything to make him stay with him. So In the end he will give up and they would be together. They will deceive shao's father by telling him that xen li's child is shao  qun child and he will accept their relationship.
