It's because the MC considers normal people as sheep that need herding and protection from the shepherd and his sheepdogs, because they are obviously more powerful. Also because the freya gods have come down to protect powerless humans from other races such as mermaids, sea serpents, dwarfs, dark elves and magical monsters and wizards are descendants of those freya gods.
