I honestly find this story interesting, but I think they focus too much on the comedy and just don't develop the story, she indeed had development but it's not really consistent, we get a piece of development in one single chapter every 30-40 chapters and she just gets stuck, even though this is comedy, that feeling of disappointment for the main character is constantly putting a straint on the comedy.

I really like that the story focuses on max perspective so we can't know most of the times what other characters are thinking, I think this is what makes the story so good, that it's relatable, just like in real life, you can't know wether someone likes you or not, you can just make guesses about what they think of you, and in cases like this we're all like max, we get happy over hearing nice things like that but get confused at the mixed signals, the story has a natural flow and I really love that

Wait a minute, we've seen that yujin was nothing like he is now, but his body structure looks extremely similar to his master's, what if with the purpose of becoming like him he tried to imitate his appearance and that made him as he is now, maybe it's purposely done or subconsciously, long face, big and wide eyes, same haircut, tall and similar outfit (though it seems mages use similar outfits)
