The bottom gets themselves in a situation where they are indebted to someone and the ML can benefit and use it to their advantage and put them in situations they wouldn't have done without outer influence ( Kind of like how in some bl the first hookup one or both are drunk. Or they could be indebted to the top themselves.
@Shreya Idk why but I feel like it really does have ties. If you think about it, if a character has debt they end up in a situation where they are willing to do what they must to pay it off. This could either relate to the Top ML's because
1. They become the beacon of hope for them and help with the debt. Especially if they are rich and makes the bottom feel safer around them and gain trust
