MC's memory loss is an integral part of the story. And yes, he lost it because someone had to stab him with the memory loss dagger thing. MC's mind was already breaking and he was just (TW) constantly killing himself due to something he learned. They had to wipe some part of his memory to save him and stop that cycle.
I'm not so sure how much you would like to be spoiled but saying who stabbed him with the dagger and the reason why he broke was basically the whole story XD

The story gets darker and darker. Way darker than I imagined since the story started out with comedy and cringe. I hope they properly add some trigger warnings once we're at that part of the story.
@Jxnice Chan please edit or hide this reply. The one that you said is actually a big spoiler and can be found at 2/3 of the story. It was actually a big revelation for me when I read that part.

This is good coz he needs to resolve his own sh*t first, otherwise, they'll end up going on a spiral. I like Haneul. She's not your typical FL. I like how frank and straightforward she is. I
@Fella people can still enjoy this without understanding the story much. Like for the art or the romance. As long as they're having fu, they can do what they want.
