Let's be honest, he didn't become like that for no reason. Actually the people around him was more cruel, though it wasn't a reason for him to hurt someone else. But I kind of understand him, he's confused with himself and still afraid to love due to his past mistake. His actions suro do shows how he love DG but he didn't wanna settle to unsure feelings. He was scared to get hurt again, he was focused on his own feelings that he forgot to care about others since he grew up with a parent who doesn't think of his feelings. The way he reacts shows how hurt he was to lose DG he realized his mistake but his pride won't let his mouth speaks the words, instead he shows it by actions and his pride still take over that's why people misinterpret. Although none of that is really an excuse for him to hurt someone who really loves him, but maybe he just can't believe in love again since Hweemin left a trauma to him.
