kind only to me is GUTWRETCHING...
honestly, my take on this is that they have genuine feelings for each other. although they might be used to how they've lived their lives before-- stuck in one spot, not knowing how the impact of your decisions weighs on you in the future and how vulnerability will get you killed. despite that they cling onto each other for that sense of love or understanding which is hitter sweet.
