He feels empty inside because what he wants is someone that will fight for his love he wants to be held. This story is so interesting and makes me see in someone's else's mind even if it's a big fussy mind

Not being held by your own parents is breaking you mentally, that's why I find this story so interesting. He missed out on the only thing he wanted so dearly, not being alone. Being held when you cry and not yelled at or abused. Someone who compliments you on your presentation someone who makes you feel enough.
