I was sympathizing with Ilya from the beginning, but at that moment my perspective was crushed lil bit. I don't wanna say it was Ilya's fault or anything, no way. But I understood how self-pity or pityis dangerous thing. And how as a reader I was only pitying one person blindly, blaming everyone else.
