Hence why Lucian was abused as a kid. The dad was gay and in love with Rachel's dad and then his dad found out and then they separated.
When Rachel's parents died, he felt guilty and (in a sense) felt himself as a parent to Rachel to kind of "replace" her dad, because he still loved her dad.
Kind of the premise of the whole story and Lucian's arch of villainy in the OG story since he was abused by his dad for looking like his grandfather which prevented his dad's happiness with Rachel's dad in the first place.
So yeah, was the whole premise of the OG story.
