I think otherwise, I mean I had this issue with "I used to be a boss" but I think this is just a natural progression of rewinding times half a million times. Essentially he's making his own groundhog day, he's trapped in a purgatory of his own making (which honestly is what he deserves)

I think faced with that many rewinds I'm sure most people, barring those that are truely pschopathic, would start to reflect and regret. Since we already know his childhood was fked up, doesn't excuse the path he took based on it, but it makes sense he'd finally be force to take a long hard look at his actions till now.
