Being in fandom became annoying the moment people started treating everything as black and white, green or red. 

People dying in a story about gangs and drugs?? Omg what a surprise! #sarcasm 

I knew this was gonna happen sooner or later because Ian's hesitation to leave the gang wasn't just about TJ but how he sees himself outside of that world, now with this he'll try to put more distance between him and Jo because he doesn't want to tarnish his life with his mistakes and decisions. And this is the moment where TJ can prove he has actually changed (if he has to do clean up after all this, but doesn't play on it to keep Ian by his side using that), to show he cares about Ian enough to not use his sense of debt towards him as a reason to keep him.
And this is also the moment we see Jo change who he is to be with Ian, and he needs to face what that means. 

Either way I don't think that guy is death, but he is trouble indeed.
