For anyone wondering, the guy from the first panel (oe) is accused of murdering those two women, in the court specifically, the accused is called 'defendant', and higuruma is taking the defendant's side. The accusers i suppose r those from the dead women's family. At first, it was rather sus for higuruma to believe what oe said (refer to oe saying wanting to turn in the blo*** knife he touched LATER and not right away to the police) but after some thorough research it seems he was saying the truth (refer to higuruma researching abt that shady non profit organization which oe worked at, he stated that he cannot turn in right away bcz it would disturb the neighbors in the area he worked which is stupid asf) so im guessing higuruma believes oe can win this case. And so he did won the first trial but higuruma was still stressing bcz he knew the accusers would appeal to the court for the second trial (there are reasons for wining the first trial if you read eg oe not being at the crime scene during the estimated time of death of those women, there was a missing person from the shadh organization that went missing right after the murder case, etc). On second trial oe lost the case, just because the lawyers of the accusers side said there was no reason to suspect the missing person as the murderer, so the table turned. Oe is sentenced to life in prison. Unfortunately it is hard for the judges to even hear the case anymore if it reaches the 3rd trial so higuruma was losing hope. But then (SPOILER) i believe his shikigami allows him to see through all the truths, lies and what happened of people in the court right? Not sure tho (bcs i also don't read yet) but if it is, then this might be the reason he wanted a retrial. Thanks for reading my yap
