LMAOO don't delete anything, I read it all  and honestly? I respect the dedication. You really came prepared with the whole syllabus 😭

Couple things that stood out:

1. 'Sometimes I find comics a bit childish'  okay that actually hurt a little ngl 💀 but I get it. Coming from a film background, I can see why you'd feel that way. Comics don't have the same visual language or pacing as film, and let's be real a lot of them ARE poorly written. But when they hit? They HIT. Monster and Psycho-Pass are valid picks tho, no argument there.

2. The bara/gei komi point that's interesting. I didn't know that distinction before. So basically, even when it's made BY gay men, it can still fall into the same toxic patterns? That's kinda depressing ngl. Guess no genre is safe LMAOO.

3. 'You can swear at me now' girl why would I swear at you 😭 You're literally the most prepared person I've talked to in these comments. If anything, I should be taking notes.

Also, thanks for actually answering my question. Saezuru and Until I Meet My Husband  I'm noting those down. The fact that one is literally a memoir adapted into manga is actually wild. I might check that out first since at least I KNOW it's real.

One more thing tho you said you're not a yaoi addict, but you clearly know your stuff. So what DO you usually read/watch then? Like outside of this genre, what's your go-to?"

Thanks. You can feel lazy to read them.I respect it.It's long af. :d That's why I said it.

1. I didn't want to feel offend you.Maybe it might be an prejudice or ignorant approach, but it's not my favorite.
I think webcomics, anime, and webnovels feel a bit too abstract for me. I’m a very sensory and tactile person, so watching or reading on a screen doesn’t always feel satisfying.
If the story is interesting and well-written, though, I can tolerate it. I’d definitely buy print editions of my favorite ones. For example, there’s a historical adult yuri webcomic called Opium. I don't think so she (artist) would decide to release a physical copy. At least I’m going to order Monster printed edition once it’s back in stock in my country.

Film and TV series are different art forms from comics and animation so ofc I didn't expect some things like you mentioned. They're  just my taste.Music and physical books already are really satisfying to me.
*Even if the Film critism are highly developed, there are lots of shitty works as we know.*

*I think I’m just getting tired of everything which is digital. You’ve probably seen it on social media too—some people are starting to go back to Analog.

2. "Guess no genre is safe" Yep. Regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, these people have unhealthy thoughts. I forgot (?) to say it. I saw a gay reader's comment "I enjoy the way r*pe was presented as a fetish in fiction." on Reddit. I want to warn you cause these type of people have twitter accounts. They express more honest way themselves:).Twitter is more chaotic and uncensored app.

*Yuri(GL) genre isn't an expectation either.Women can r*pe women even if people don't take this "r*pe" seriously. Some queerr women don't care it in fiction.
I didn't think a genre can be safe lol. Wait, or could it exist? lmao

3. I wanted to deleted cause I talked with other readers. They don't care these things. They just read and go on. If you would be a person like that, I wouldn't probably deal with you.I've said before.Instead of stop reading comics,I might delete my account and just to read my favs.
"Should taking notes" if you have adhd like me, first thing: remember it. :d I know everyone can forget it

4. You're welcome. I appreciate curious people.
people generally. I know, right? Our sweet gay author and activist. 👌
Actually it began as a memoir, evolved into a novel, and was eventually adapted into a manga.
*Although some things have changed in Japan in recent years, only heterosexual marriage is legally recognized.

Well, I talked with a gay reader and also have a friend. He's a quite picky af.When I discover something that truly interests me, I usually look into it in detail.
If we just talk about the fiction, some people love to read the genre related to their sexual orientation. Some of them are just like me.We’re generally interested in queerr representation.

Manga = more works and greater creative diversity
Anime = larger and more commercially developed? Do you agree with it?

"A lot of them ARE poorly written."
Do you objectively think that way in all genres?
I've heard some works like Berserks,One Piece,Naruto..etc. I never watched or read.
They're popular and still might be good stories. It's not my taste. Generally, comics and animation is nothing new in the World.
There are lots of high quality comics and anime. No offense, but If you are knowledgeable about them, you can teach me. When I look at the websites, everyone says something different. I want to read honest and critical arguments.
"But when they hit? They HIT." Yeah, exactly. Damn. It's so good that I'll buy a physical copy.Â
