@Blub the meat is actually seasoned with salt, but the salt used has an 'addictive' recipe or much to say 'poison' that Karas put in it (I can't explain further so it would be much better if you guys could just read the novel). There's much more meaning about how the meat is being used as a device to the story, and I tell y'all, it's UTTERLY DISTURBING.
