Ch. 160

Spoiler!
Arena had died at the age of seventy-nine, but her ghost looked like a woman in her twenties because she had been blessed by God and never aged. Camilla realized that everyone was making a huge fuss because it was Arena's divine power that had appeared through her. Arena jokingly said she had always been amazing, making Camilla both annoyed and impressed. Soon, the head butler Luve rushed in with surprising news. Pope Brisel himself had come to visit. Duke Sorfel became angry instead of honored because he already disliked how the church had been treating Camilla. Everyone around him immediately grabbed their weapons as if they were ready to fight the Pope. Camilla quickly stopped them, deciding that she would meet the Pope herself. Camilla said that she had received a revelation from God. Everyone became silent because a revelation was considered God's direct command, something even the Pope could not ignore. She explained that this revelation had been the reason she visited the orphanage earlier. Camilla announced that God had shown her that many people inside the church had stained His name through terrible sins. She began exposing them one by one. She accused one priest of stealing donations that were meant for orphanages. The priest immediately froze because it was true. She accused another priest of abusing children, saying he had falsely claimed they were possessed by demons so he could torture them.
Then she looked directly at Cardinal Stela. She revealed that he had SA'ed young priests who trusted him. Some of his victims had become so traumatized that they ended their own lives. Even worse, after their deaths, Cardinal Stela had publicly condemned them as sinners instead of admitting his own crimes. The Pope finally lost his calm and insisted that no such people existed in the church. But Camilla was not finished. She brought up Divine Indulgences, accusing church leaders of selling God's forgiveness in exchange for money. This clearly unsettled the Pope because he knew exactly what she was talking about. Finally, Camilla looked at every guilty church official and declared that God had commanded all of these sinners to be captured and burned alive as punishment for their sins. After delivering this terrifying judgment, she suddenly smiled sweetly again and innocently asked, "So... do I really need to become the Saintess?" The room fell completely silent. No one could answer her. The Pope and the church leaders were left shocked, frightened, and unsure of what to do next. Arena often visited the temple and the Papal Palace to quietly observe what the church was doing. Just as Camilla expected, many church leaders were trying to call her a heretic and accuse her of blasphemy. Cardinal Stella especially wanted her to be judged by the Inquisition. However, Camilla had already predicted this and said she had a plan. She wanted to find something that would prove she was not a heretic once and for all. For five days, the Papal Palace was filled with endless arguments. Some priests insisted Camilla could not be a saint because she had insulted the church, while others defended her by pointing out that she had saved dying children with divine power. Some people also brought up her past, saying she had a violent personality and had once fought another noblewoman in public. Cardinal Stella even claimed that what everyone saw might have been magic instead of divine power because Camilla's brother, Arcian, was a talented mage. Others strongly disagreed, saying magic could never perform such miracles. Pope Brisel remained silent throughout the debates. He knew Camilla's power was real divine power, but he also understood why Cardinal Stella refused to admit it. If the church accepted Camilla as a saint, it would make their accusations against her meaningless. At the same time, if they falsely declared her a heretic, they risked exposing their own sins. The Pope remembered the frightening warning Lady Camilla had once given, saying that God wanted all sinners punished. That memory haunted him so much that he even dreamed about burning at the stake. While the arguments continued, a high-ranking priest entered the meeting and delivered a small box sent by Camilla. When Pope Brisel opened it, everyone was confused because it contained only a silver dagger. Then they noticed the symbol on it and were shocked. It was the legendary Judgment Blade, the sacred weapon once carried by Saintess Arena. According to the Scriptures, Arena had said that when the next true saint appeared, the Judgment Blade would return. Since Camilla had found it, this seemed to prove she was the true Saintess.

I like to post spoilers for the stories I find interesting because I don't have much time to read novel due to busy schedule you will find me in most romantic historical manhwa comment sections

@A_12 This is more of a condensed version because I need to rewrite the whole spoiler once again so please bear with this 😅
Spoiler!
Camilla found the legendary Sword of Judgment, but many Church leaders thought it was fake because they could not believe they had failed to find it for so many years. The High Priest suggested testing it. The sword would not hurt someone who honestly confessed their sins, but if a person lied, it would punish them before forcing them to stab themselves. Because of this, nobody wanted to touch it.
Camilla became sick again after using so much divine power to find the sword. Arena explained that the cave where it was hidden could only be seen by someone with great holy power, and Camilla only reached it because Arena guided her. Although using divine power made her very weak, Camilla did not regret finding the sword. She sent it to the Church because she knew it would stop people from calling her a heretic. Since the prophecy said the person who found the Sword of Judgment would become the next Saintess, she believed no one would dare challenge her anymore.
While Camilla was resting, Ravi acted strangely. He admitted he felt guilty because he thought Camilla might have had a safer life if she had gone with Duke Escra instead of staying with their family. Camilla became annoyed, headbutted him, and reminded him that staying with the family had been her own choice. She told him this was her home and she was not leaving. To cheer him up, she gave him a newly discovered mana stone that was even more powerful than the best ones on the market. Ravi became so excited about studying it that he immediately forgot his worries and teleported to his laboratory.
That night, Jayner secretly left the mansion but was attacked by Arcian, who believed Jayner was connected to the attacks on Khan's bases. Jayner revealed he was Camilla's older brother and explained that Camilla already knew everything about his past. Although Arcian still disliked him, he respected Camilla's decision and ended the fight.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Stela was furious because the Church could no longer accuse Camilla of being a heretic after she found the Sword of Judgment. Before he could secretly get rid of her, posters suddenly appeared across the empire exposing his crimes. They revealed that he had abused, humiliated, sexually assaulted, and driven many young priests and trainees to suicide. Even though he ordered the posters destroyed, new ones kept appearing every day for two weeks, badly damaging the Church's reputation.
The Pope held an official hearing, but there was not enough proof to punish Stela. Cardinal Martio suggested using the Sword of Judgment to learn the truth. Stela agreed because he believed the sword was fake. He held the sword and claimed he had committed no crimes. At first nothing happened, but then the sword judged him guilty. His hand became stuck to the hilt, and the sword slowly turned toward his chest. Terrified, Stela confessed that all the accusations were true, but it was too late. The Sword of Judgment forced itself into his heart, k i l l i n g him in front of everyone.
Afterward, Cardinal Martio declared that God had carried out judgment, and everyone became convinced that Camilla had truly found the real Sword of Judgment. Later, Khan members joked that Camilla only asked them to put up posters instead of carrying out assassinations. Camilla explained that Stela did not deserve a quick death. She wanted him to face God's judgment instead. With Stela gone and the Sword of Judgment proven real, Camilla's path to becoming the next Saintess became much clearer.
