Physical Power isn't a straight line, it eventually curves, making it more difficult to become any stronger than that.
In video game terms, imagine if a level 100 could defeat a level 110. The 110 did get stronger, but he has his limits, and the level 100 could've also been using a weapon set or combo list that the 110 has never faced before while the 110 was using a combo set the 100 was very familiar with. And the 100 could likely even kill a 120 under the same premise. More difficult to do but still possible, because a fight for your life is always full of unpredictable outcomes.
@Lunar Shadow55 yeah, everyone eventually reaches the limits of what they can be in terms of physical or magical strength, so it comes down to the minior things that experience brings, which is why certain masters can go back and forth in terms of winning and losing against each other.
