Since the only thing we see is the door closing, I expect the next chapter to be one of them running after the other.
Don't bother argue with me if you disagree, but if it doesn't happen that way the story is non sense. You pass from nothing, to rings, to violence, to nothing again. To me this is messy writing and just milking the story
