Trying to explain from reviews from the raw to understand the real tragedy of this story :
1- the first wish was for Aina to marry him, remember, as soon as she said to make the wish he said "Marry me", ironically for that to happen she had to be acknowledged as his empress
2nd - the second wish is the clearest, so the reason Ranon hunted down the mages, was because they were a threat. He knows that village did something that is in motion even after erasing it, so instead of leaving room for doubt he chooses to eradicate all
3rd - this is was Aina DOESN'T know, and the twist, is that Ranon ALREADY made the third wish, it was to save her for her predicted end. Since a wish cannot be cancelled Fate chose instead to curse him and his "blessed" descendents to lose their most beloved, Ironically Aina died. However the current timeline is the third wish was actually being "in motion", as long as Ranon never loses himself for a thousand year, till it's supposed that everything will end and Aina would finally be at peace.
