A lot of people commenting are too young to understand and I get that. What his dad said was probably unintentional, just blinded by grief and anger at his sons ingratitude. Cirrus is processing his moms death differently, though he does it in a a way that inconsiderate of his dad who also lost someone special to him. He's young though, I get it.
Saying that his dad shouldn't have moved on is absurd though... cause grieving for the rest of his life won't bring her back and it won't repair the relationship with his son. He tried to provide a mother figure for Cirrus even though the way he went about it was weird, his intentions were genuine.
I say all this as someone who was/is in the same position as Cirrus.
