Idk if this is is a spoiler because I read this a while ago and I'm kinda just jumping around as I reread but Yuri's parents died when he was young and that guy's family took him in and raised him(the other red haired girl that's close to Yuri is the sister i believe). He moved out as soon as he turned 18 or something because he didn't want to burden their family. 

So long story short they are childhood friends/pseudo adopted siblings, sorta??
