I assume this is a setting in korea, so it's likely they generally preffered her brother simply because he was a male.
Also if her brother was naturally smart, and she had to work really hard to get his average grade. It would often be very demotivating and likely only made her give up faster if it felt hopeless.
this is coming from someone who is a sibling themselves and often had bad grades lol, my grades are better then my brothers now but I have to study almost 5 times as much as they do in terms of actual hours. Mostly started working hard to get into a good university and not because i'm directly competiting with them, getting compared is usually more demotivating than motivating lol.
@emerine-sofie coming from someone smart expectations are toxic. selfish of people to think someone has it all bc they can study gh h
@ASDFGHJKL I'm in an asian family myself and I agree, they're very strict about everything and it's hard
@ASDFGHJKL what make you think she didn't try?.. He's a boy that's probably why he got the most attention but seeing the brother.. I think he doesn't want the attention himself.. He's probably struggling to live to his parents expectation
@nevertheless she’s also grown now though so she can think for herself smh. It’s like those ceos who know their previous white moonlight is in the wrong but keep ignoring it till reality and the fl slaps them
@ASDFGHJKL she's allowed to be jealous and resentful, afterall she did get mistreated by her parent. When has jealousy ever been rational? Aslong as she did not take it out on her brother negatively I don't see her being sad as an issue because she's allowed to feel those emotions. You're also ignoring the fact that stuff that happens when kids are little are more likely to affect someone when they get older.
