@yaoicastle I think it's because some readers (like me) really connect with Tei's point of view. And from his perspective, "having concubines" seems... err... not so great.
Well, and from some perspective, flying whales in the desert seem more realistic and less fairytale-like than this "we haven't seen each other for 10 years, I have a harem of 20 concubines, I smell like the same perfume as the concubine, but I never do anything."

@ItsNotOverYet why do readers connect only with the MC to a point where they become blind of whatever the ML is telling them.... ML has done nothing but tell with words and actions that he wants him and only him.
It's MC the one who doesn't care to listen

1)Now the author is deliberately focusing on Tei's perspective and very briefly portraying Shuraka's.
2)In fact, we as readers do the same thing as Tei. We tend to make assumptions about Shuraka's strong feelings. Shuraka, however, avoids direct formulations (and that's okay; I don't blame Shuraka for that).
3)Tei knows VERY little. Shuraka told him VERY little. 40% of what he knows about Shuraka is that he has a harem.😁
4)At the same time, I think Tei is prone to negative assumptions about himself. (and that's okay; I don't blame Tei for that).
5)They need to talk!

@Sylveon When and where did I assume that he slept with any of them? You're just making things up for your own good. We only got to see Tei's perspective for now so I'm speaking out of HIS perspective and only said what we clearly got to see. I won't make any assumptions until we get to see both their perspectives. I'm sure Shukara is a loyal person, but him telling Tei that he is his one and only while having a whole concubine clan is deceptive. Whether he chose the concubines himself, is another thing that we will find out later. I will stand by what I said for now

@Sylveon omg yes thank you!!! Like i feel like he didn't actually want the concubines. Someone else in the comments talked about how all the concubines are older and ml had an older brother that died. It could well be that the concubines were the brothers.
but i feel like ml mite just be like actual friends with some of them in a completely plotonic way. And like wasn't his blood gold? Doesn't that mean he wouldn't have had s** with the concubines
