@historia i get the focus of everyone shifts to Johan basically pining for & loving North from afar for 3 yrs... that is sweet & romantic - but when they actually get together, he is toxic as f*ck & i can't get behind his obsessive, possessive, domineering behavior, any more then i can get behind how fast North capitulated to this forceful, overbearing behavior & his loss of autonomy.

fantasy world aside, this toxic behavior if usually found in abusive partners that want total control over anyone in a relationship with them, they dictate their every move, tell them what to do & don't let them work, so they will become financially dependent on them - the only thing Johan didn't do was manipulate North into cutting all ties with friends & family. so seeing this behavior makes me shudder, not jump with joy cause "love".

@historia He rejected several acting roles, but he decided to audition for this one because he was interested in the character Fan Xiao. ~  Fan Xiao can't be a good guy, but you could see Shi Lihua starting to have a little man crush on Shulang... and Fan Xiao WAS NOT amused. Is this how he convinces himself that Zhen Zhen doesn't deserve Shu Lang? (Not that he needs convincing). I'm dying laughing at Fan Xiao doing everything he can to end this relationship, with Zhen just being a pa** that's going to be discarded at any moment. He is only interested in You Shulang, first he wanted to break this "saint" of a man, then when he started to feel a sexual attraction for him he tried the same thing with Zhen Zhen cause he was confused and understood he only felt that way for Shulang. He doesnt care about Lu zhen one bit. He is only interested in his Bodhisattva You Shulang.  he wanted to see if zhen will turn him on. Just like when shulang was drugged and fan was turned on. not only in the, even the whole time he was trying to lure zhen so they can break up with shulang he never even hugged him   dude was down bad for shulang

@historia  Fan Xiao already was living a life where every living minute felt like punishment to him and this was long before he met Shulang. It doesnt excuse his behaviour but explains it. You think he wasnt punished enough but mentally he was already getting punished even before he met Shulang. Also, morality isnt black and white.. there's the entire grayscale in between! The hurt Fan Xiao caused Shulang were all mental wounds which he fixed one by one. He atoned for his sins. He was hunted and almost burned alive and his mental health was already a mess since childhood. So I dont know what else would have satisfied you. He suffered enough and the show explains that throughout the 15 eps without explicitly explaining it..

@historia I wanted to mention that Fan Xiao will change condoms 3 times during this day!  Fan Xiao had been starving for years he needed to sate his hunger You Shulang even passed out. w it is because fan xiao doesn't want Shulang to be in a relationship because he is jealous. He was smug indeed  But what I absolutely loved was the way he was entirely devoted to his Buddha Shulang. Even the ending where they finally get back together he is like a dog agreeing to everything his master is says. I think there are only few MLs who are as passionate as Fan Xiao but also as devoted.
