Spoiler text. so in the novel None of the last few chapters happen. Edith is asleep for quite a bit and wakes up. She tells Killian about the other Ediths. Although his parents are sorry, Cliff is still heir. Reese in confinement is confronted by Edith and she admits it all. Basically she found it fun to watch them struggle because the story was always the same, and she was bored. She found it funny when they would fail and then this "Edith" came along and now the storyline is broken..

Fast forward a bit and Killian and Edith want to leave for their territory (Edith is super excited to modernize it in way with schools and such - side stories are her giving Killian a hard time cuz he doesn't know how to save money lol) but stay for Cliff and Reese to get married. Sweet moments happen between Killian and Edith at the party, but after they leave and get settled in the territory.

Though letters they find out Reese is throwing lavish parties trying to be the center of attention. She's also trying to seduce the crown prince. The Duke and duchess still want to believe in her, but want cliff to reign her in. Killian and Edith have a child and decide to visit. On the way there they find a lost child. Turns out he's important and Reese knew this last part of the story but couldn't find him so came up with a fake. Of course they figure out Edith found the real one and Reese lied. So skipping some she gets sent to the convent. And forced to divorce Cliff.
