@Eternally tired and bored person same to me, I knew there would be a part when he remembers the girl from the past(small Ari), but I just thought he just would be thankful to her or treat her like his first love which already faded long ago especially after falling in love with the heroine and naturally would find out she was that girl, like in any other works with that trope 
but here he declares love and shows like a real obsession with that girl
