I have a harder time seeing them as "rushing" since I also see them as two guys who have been seperated for years (centuries?) and who feel some of that pain and passing of time. So in that sense I wouldn't say they even could rush even if they jumped each other on Day 1. But I get how their current selves could be said to be rushing and I'm sure it will work out that way for them mentally.
