I understand why everyone is saying "just communicate with him", yes he should but there's a lot at stake here. We know that Rum likes Ginger, but Ginger doesn't know, by confessing Ginger can ruin their relationship. You wouldn't want to lose your best friend for over a century bc you like them and they don't like you. There's no going back from that. Ginger wants to keep their relationship even if it means that he never confesses bc he's scared of what the consequences are.
