If not both, I feel like it's more the grandmother, as that's part of the reason Dan has been glued to Jaekyung - there's the debt and the fact that he's paying her hospital bills. With her no longer being around, there's really nothing to tie Dan to Jaekyung, and that scares him (whether he admits it or not). As soon as he calmed down and realized he had it completely wrong about Dan, the first thing he does is ask where he is and what he's doing. Jaekyung needs him in his life and he knows it.
