its to keep him safe, all the beastmen and elves are fighting humans so they all hate humans, so if he would have ran arround from the get go just by her side they would have all killed him, she made him her slave so nobody can touch him.
tho to be fair now that they are officially married i dont really see a point of him being a slave anymore, but we will see.
